Bears sign the highest contract in team history to lock down a key offensive talent

Another elite wide receiver in the NFL is about to sign a hefty contract. On Tuesday, wide receiver D.J. Moore and the Chicago Bears reached an agreement on a new four-year, $110 million contract that includes guarantees totalling over $82 million. It’s the largest contract ever given to a wide receiver and among the costliest in NFL history for that position as well.

In a sensational transaction with the Panthers that delivered Carolina the first overall pick in the 2023 draft, the Bears acquired Moore prior to the 2023 campaign. Bryce Young, the quarterback, was selected by the Panthers with that choice. The Bears were able to get a legitimate No. 1 wide receiver in addition to a 2024 first-round pick, which ended up being the first overall pick, in what turned out to be an amazing trade.

Caleb Williams, the quarterback, was selected by Chicago with that choice. Moore caught 96 catches for 1,364 yards and eight touchdowns in his debut season with the Bears. Those were all career highs for him, and he accomplished that in spite of extremely erratic quarterback play.
