Illinois Fighting Illini have suspended one of their veteran star players for two games following allegations of using a homophobic slur. This decision comes after an internal investigation into the incident, which reportedly occurred during a recent team practice.

 

The University of Illinois released an official statement addressing the incident:
“We are committed to fostering an inclusive and respectful environment for all. The behavior in question does not align with the values of our program or our university. After a thorough review, we have decided to suspend the player for two games and require them to participate in sensitivity training to ensure this does not happen again.”
