In November 2024, Indiana University made a significant commitment to its football program by extending head coach Curt Cignetti’s contract through the 2032 season. The new eight-year deal is valued at $72 million, averaging $8 million annually, and includes an additional $1 million annual retention bonus.
This contract extension comes on the heels of a historic season for the Hoosiers. Under Cignetti’s leadership, Indiana achieved its first 10–0 start in school history, culminating in an 11-win season and a berth in the College Football Playoff.
Cignetti’s coaching career has been marked by consistent success. Prior to joining Indiana, he led James Madison University to multiple NCAA playoff appearances and a national championship game. His tenure at Indiana has revitalized the program, bringing national attention and setting new standards for success.
The substantial contract extension reflects Indiana University’s dedication to building a competitive football program and retaining top-tier coaching talent. With Cignetti at the helm, the Hoosiers are poised for continued success in the coming years.
