The Ohio State Buckeyes football program is preparing for a period of transition as head coach Ryan Day confirmed a list of players set to depart the team. These departures come as part of the natural churn of college football, with players leaving due to graduation, NFL aspirations, or entering the transfer portal.
Among the notable names, standout wide receiver Marvin Harrison Jr. has officially declared for the NFL Draft after an illustrious college career that included numerous accolades and record-setting performances. Offensive lineman Donovan Jackson and defensive back Denzel Burke are also headed to the professional level, solidifying Ohio State’s reputation for producing NFL-ready talent.
In addition to NFL-bound players, several Buckeyes have entered the transfer portal, seeking opportunities for more playing time or a fresh start elsewhere. These departures include backup quarterback Devin Brown and linebacker C.J. Hicks, both of whom were highly-touted recruits.
Coach Ryan Day expressed gratitude for the contributions of the departing players, stating, “These young men have given everything to this program, and we are proud of what they’ve accomplished on and off the field. While we’re sad to see them go, we’re excited to watch them succeed in the next phase of their careers.”
The Buckeyes will now focus on reloading their roster through recruiting and the transfer portal as they prepare for the upcoming season. Despite the departures, Ohio State remains optimistic about maintaining its position as a perennial contender in college football.
