Tennessee Volunteers head coach Josh Heupel has confirmed the list of players departing the program, marking a bittersweet moment for the team as it bids farewell to key contributors who have played pivotal roles in its success.
The most notable departure is quarterback Joe Milton III, who is heading to the NFL Draft after a strong season leading the Volunteers. Known for his rocket arm and leadership, Milton leaves big shoes to fill in Knoxville. Joining him in the draft is standout wide receiver Bru McCoy, whose athleticism and playmaking ability made him a fan favorite.
The Volunteers are also seeing several players enter the transfer portal, including backup quarterback Tayven Jackson and running back Dylan Sampson, as they seek more playing time elsewhere. In addition, senior linemen Cooper Mays and Omari Thomas are moving on after completing their collegiate careers.
Coach Heupel expressed his appreciation for the departing players, stating, “These men have given everything to Tennessee football, and we’re incredibly proud of their growth both on and off the field. While it’s tough to see them leave, we know they have bright futures ahead.”
With these departures, Tennessee will look to its next wave of talent through recruiting and the transfer portal to sustain its momentum as a rising power in the SEC. Fans remain optimistic that the program’s upward trajectory will continue.
