In a move that has electrified the Oklahoma fanbase, former Sooners legend and Heisman Trophy winner Jason White has been named the new offensive coordinator for the University of Oklahoma. The announcement marks the return of one of the most celebrated players in program history to Norman, this time in a leadership role on the sidelines.

White, who quarterbacked the Sooners from 1999 to 2004, is best known for his stellar 2003 season, when he won the Heisman Trophy and led Oklahoma to a national championship appearance. Despite battling career-threatening injuries, White left an indelible mark on the program, finishing his career as one of the most accomplished quarterbacks in college football history.

“I’m honored and excited to come back to the program that gave me so much,” White said in a statement. “Oklahoma football is about tradition, excellence, and winning, and I’m ready to help this team achieve greatness on and off the field.”

The Sooners are coming off a season filled with offensive ups and downs, and White’s hiring signals a fresh start for the program. Known for his deep understanding of the game and his relentless work ethic, White is expected to bring a dynamic and creative approach to the offense.

Head coach Brent Venables praised the move, calling White “the perfect person to help lead our offense into the future.” Venables highlighted White’s leadership qualities, knowledge of the program, and ability to inspire players as key reasons for the hire.
