Boise State Broncos head coach Spencer Danielson has officially announced the addition of several key players to the team’s roster, bolstering both the offense and defense for the upcoming season.
Former five-star quarterback Malachi Nelson has transferred from USC to Boise State. Nelson, who was the No. 11 overall recruit in the 2023 cycle, saw limited action during his freshman year with the Trojans. His decision to join the Broncos provides a significant boost to the quarterback position, especially following the departure of Taylen Green to Arkansas. Nelson is expected to compete with Maddux Madsen for the starting role.
The Broncos have also added defensive lineman Keanu Mailoto from the University of Arizona. Standing at 6-foot-5 and weighing 280 pounds, Mailoto brings size and experience to Boise State’s defensive front. He is the second former Wildcat to transfer to Boise State, joining defensive back Demetrius Freeney.
During the early signing period, Boise State secured commitments from 22 players, including four each from Texas and California. Notably, the Broncos added Dallyn Grimes, a three-star offensive lineman from Middleton High School. The class also features two junior college transfers: defensive backs Samuel Brooks from Dodge City Community College and Jaylen Webb from Kilgore Junior College.
