Florida Gators head coach Billy Napier has announced the addition of elite wide receiver Vernell Brown III to the team’s 2025 recruiting class. Standing at 5-foot-10.5 and weighing 173 pounds, Brown III is a highly sought-after prospect who had previously been pursued by top programs, including Florida State, Miami, and Ohio State. His commitment to the Gators marks a significant boost to Florida’s recruiting efforts.
Brown III, who hails from Gainesville, Florida, expressed his enthusiasm about joining the Gators, stating, “The program on the field is great and off the field, I can set myself up for life there.” He also emphasized the importance of his family’s legacy at Florida, noting, “Representing their legacy is going to be really good, but ultimately, I want to be better than my dad and granddad and what they did.”
His commitment has had a positive impact on Florida’s recruiting rankings, propelling the Gators from No. 53 to No. 31 nationally and from No. 15 to No. 12 in the SEC, according to On3 Industry Team Recruiting Rankings.
During the 2023 season, Brown III showcased his exceptional talent by recording 70 receptions for 1,363 yards and 10 touchdowns. His dynamic playing style and deep understanding of the game make him a valuable addition to the Gators’ offense.
