In a candid open letter to Chicago White Sox fans, Chairman Jerry Reinsdorf acknowledged the team’s disappointing 2024 season, describing it as “a failure” and taking full responsibility for the on-field performance.
Reinsdorf expressed gratitude to the fans for their unwavering support throughout the challenging season, stating, “You all deserved better.” He emphasized the organization’s commitment to improvement, outlining plans to enhance player development, evaluate trade and free-agent markets, and implement leadership changes within the analytics department.
A key focus is the search for a new manager to lead the team. General Manager Chris Getz is actively conducting an exhaustive search, identifying key attributes and preferences for the next manager, with the goal of revitalizing the team’s performance.
Despite the setbacks, Reinsdorf highlighted positive developments within the organization, including the success of the Class AA Birmingham Barons, who won the Southern League title, and the Class A Kannapolis team reaching the finals of the Carolina League. These achievements reflect a growing pool of talented prospects for the future.
Reinsdorf concluded the letter by reaffirming the organization’s dedication to earning the trust and support of the fans, stating, “We owe it to each and every one of you.”
