South Carolina Gamecocks head coach Shane Beamer announced today the addition of two key players to the team’s roster, bolstering both the offense and defense for the upcoming season.
On offense, the Gamecocks have secured a commitment from four-star wide receiver Donovan Murph. Murph, who reclassified from the 2026 to the 2025 recruiting class, chose South Carolina over Clemson, Colorado, Ole Miss, and Tennessee. Standing at 6’2″ and weighing 190 pounds, he is ranked as the No. 4 player in the state and a top-250 recruit nationally. During his high school career at Irmo High School, Murph amassed 153 catches for 2,412 yards and 29 touchdowns over two seasons. His addition is expected to significantly enhance the Gamecocks’ receiving corps.
Defensively, South Carolina has added Ball State transfer cornerback Myles Norwood. Norwood, standing at 6’1″ and weighing 183 pounds, concluded the 2024 season with 38 tackles, two fumble recoveries, and five pass breakups. He played 456 snaps over 12 games, primarily as an outside cornerback, earning a solid coverage grade of 71.8 according to Pro Football Focus. Norwood’s experience and performance are anticipated to strengthen the Gamecocks’ secondary as they prepare for the challenges of the upcoming season.
These strategic acquisitions reflect Coach Beamer’s commitment to enhancing the team’s competitiveness in the SEC.
