Zach Frazier appears to be making progress on the Steelers’ depth chart. Although many predicted that Frazier, who was selected by Pittsburgh in the second round, would be the centre of the Steelers’ future, the West Virginia Mountaineer product may instead be playing in the present.
Speaking to media following his team’s first practice following their loss to the Houston Texans in the preseason opener, Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin even hinted at giving Frazier more opportunities in the team’s next preseason game.
“Next week we are going to position him (Frazier) to do so with an increased workload,” Tomlin added.
Frazier took snaps with the first-team offense during practice on Sunday.
Frazier, like any NFL rookie, is still a work in progress, but PFF evaluated him favorably based on his appearance in relief of Nate Herbig, who endured communication issues with quarterback Justin Fields.
