Miami Hurricanes have announced the departure of two of their top players as quarterback Tyler Van Dyke and running back Henry Parrish Jr. officially enter the transfer portal. These key exits come at a critical time for the Hurricanes as they prepare for the 2024 season under head coach Mario Cristobal.
Tyler Van Dyke, once seen as the future of Miami’s offense, battled through injuries and inconsistent performances over the last two seasons. Despite his early success, which had him on Heisman watchlists, Van Dyke decided to seek a fresh start elsewhere. His departure leaves a significant gap in the quarterback position, with only sophomore Emory Williams and junior Jacurri Brown remaining as options.
Adding to the blow, Henry Parrish Jr., Miami’s leading rusher for the last two seasons, has also entered the transfer portal. Parrish was a key figure in the Hurricanes’ ground game, amassing over 600 rushing yards each season and contributing as both a rusher and receiver. His departure will force Miami to lean on younger running backs such as Mark Fletcher and Ajay Allen, or seek replacements in the transfer portal.
These losses mark a pivotal moment for Miami, who will need to restructure their offense and recruit talent to stay competitive in the ACC. Coach Cristobal will likely look to the transfer market to replace both Van Dyke and Parrish as the team enters a crucial offseason.
