As they gear up for their divisional playoff game against the Lions in Detroit, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers are riding a wave of momentum. After dominating the Philadelphia Eagles in the Wild Card round, the Buccaneers are determined to bring an end to the NFC North champions’ impressive season.
Before and during the 32-9 victory over Philadelphia, Baker Mayfield, the quarterback for Tampa Bay, tried to motivate his teammates with a spirited exclamation of “woo,” which was reminiscent of the iconic catchphrase of former WWE wrestler Ric Flair.
The Nature Boy noticed Mayfield’s endorsement and enthusiastically urged the Bucs to excel in the upcoming playoff game against the Lions, hoping they will advance to the NFC Championship Game.
Mayfield has had a fantastic season with the Bucs, and he showcased his skills against the Eagles. He had an impressive performance, completing 22 out of 36 passes for 337 yards, throwing 3 touchdown passes without any interceptions.
In order to secure a victory against the Lions, it appears highly probable that Mayfield will need to deliver a comparable performance. With Rachaad White lacking a strong presence in the running game, the responsibility of driving Tampa Bay forward will largely fall on the passing game. White, who managed to accumulate 72 yards from 18 carries in the previous game against Philadelphia, did not offer a dominant rushing performance.
The Bucs possess a number of strong receivers, and Mayfield has the advantage of utilizing the most versatile one, Mike Evans. Evans showcased his skills throughout the regular season by making 79 receptions, accumulating an impressive 1,255 yards and scoring an outstanding 13 touchdowns. Additionally, Evans partners with the swift Chris Godwin, who also had a notable season, recording 83 catches for 1,024 yards and 2 touchdowns, including one against the Eagles.
