In a stunning turn of events, five-star wide receiver Jeremiah Smith has flipped his commitment from the Ohio State Buckeyes to the Virginia Tech Hokies. The star recruit, who had also been pursued by Tennessee, Michigan, and other major programs, announced his decision earlier today, sending shockwaves through the college football recruiting landscape.
Smith, a 6-foot-3, 200-pound playmaker from Florida, is regarded as one of the top wide receiver prospects in the 2024 class. Known for his elite route running, speed, and ability to make contested catches, Smith is expected to become a centerpiece of Virginia Tech’s offense under head coach Brent Pry.
“I believe Virginia Tech is the best place for me to grow both as a player and a person,” Smith said in his announcement. “The coaching staff made me feel like family, and I’m excited about the opportunity to help build something special in Blacksburg.”
The commitment marks a huge recruiting win for the Hokies, who have been seeking to re-establish themselves as a contender in the ACC. Smith’s decision could signal a turning point for the program, as they continue to attract high-level talent to rejuvenate their roster.
