In a surprising announcement, the Arizona State Sun Devils confirmed the departure of four key players, including starting quarterback Jeff Sims. The news has left fans and analysts shocked, as Sims had been a key figure in Arizona State’s offense and was expected to play a major role in the team’s 2024 campaign.

Alongside Sims, wide receiver Elijhah Badger, linebacker Kyle Soelle, and defensive back Jack Jones will also be leaving the program. Each of these players had made significant contributions to the Sun Devils in recent seasons, and their departures create substantial voids on both offense and defense.

Though Arizona State has not disclosed the specific reasons behind the exits, sources suggest a combination of transfer portal entries, NIL opportunities, and personal decisions may be involved. Jeff Sims, who had been viewed as a steady leader at quarterback, leaves Arizona State with a major challenge as the team searches for his replacement.

Head coach Kenny Dillingham addressed the situation in a statement: “We appreciate everything Jeff, Elijhah, Kyle, and Jack have done for this program. While their decisions are not easy, we support them and wish them the best in their future endeavors. Our focus is now on continuing to build a competitive team for the 2024 season.”
