As of December 24, 2024, there have been no reports indicating that Texas A&M Aggies head coach Mike Elko has signed a new contract making him the highest-paid coach in NCAA history. In November 2023, Elko agreed to a six-year contract with an annual base salary of $7 million, which was approved by the Texas A&M Board of Regents.
While Elko’s current contract is substantial, it does not surpass the record-breaking deals of other NCAA coaches. For instance, in December 2021, Mario Cristobal signed a 10-year, $80 million contract with the Miami Hurricanes, positioning him among the highest-paid coaches in college football.
Therefore, as of now, Mike Elko’s contract does not make him the highest-paid coach in NCAA history.
