In a stunning development for Auburn Tigers football, five key players have announced their decisions to transfer, leaving a major hole in the team’s lineup as the 2025 season approaches. The departures come at a critical time for head coach Hugh Freeze and the Tigers, who will now face the challenge of replacing key contributors both on offense and defense.
Among the most significant losses is Eli Walker, a standout defensive end who had been a dominant force on the Tigers’ defensive line. His departure leaves a crucial gap in Auburn’s pass rush and run defense. Alongside him, Malcolm Scott, an experienced running back, was expected to play a key role in the offense and now leaves the Tigers with an uncertain backfield heading into next season.
Other important transfers include Chris Evans (wide receiver), Jordan Taylor (linebacker), and Marcus Davis (offensive lineman). Each of these players had made vital contributions in their respective positions, and their departures will test Auburn’s depth and ability to contend in the SEC.
As the Tigers move forward, Coach Freeze will be tasked with filling these gaps through recruiting and development. Despite the losses, Auburn remains hopeful that the program can reload and bounce back with new talent ready to step up.
