On February 1, 2025, Michigan Wolverines head coach Sherrone Moore announced the signing of two key players to strengthen the team’s roster.
The first signee is Bryce Underwood, a five-star quarterback from Belleville High School in Michigan. Underwood, who had previously committed to LSU, flipped his commitment to Michigan in November 2024. His decision was influenced by a substantial NIL deal, reportedly up to $12 million, facilitated by efforts from Michigan supporters, including entrepreneur Dave Portnoy and billionaire Jolin Ellison. Underwood boasts an impressive high school record with 12,919 all-purpose yards and 179 touchdowns.
The second signee is Chase Herbstreit, the son of ESPN college football analyst Kirk Herbstreit. Chase, a three-star recruit from Cincinnati, Ohio, committed to Michigan for the 2025 season. In his senior year at St. Xavier High School, he led his team to the regional finals, recording 26 touchdowns. Chase’s commitment adds depth to Michigan’s quarterback position and continues the Herbstreit family’s connection to college football.
These signings are expected to enhance Michigan’s offensive capabilities and contribute to the team’s success in the upcoming season.
