Against the Los Angeles Rams in Week 18, edge rusher Clelin Ferrell of the San Francisco 49ers sustained a knee injury. Ferrell’s injury was not an ACL or MCL, according to head coach Kyle Shanahan, and the team will know the full extent of the injury after they get Ferrell’s MRI on Monday.
Shanahan stated that Ferrell might end up missing a playoff game even if the 49ers have a bye week. Near the end of the game, Tayler Hawkins had a wrist injury. Aside than that, the 49ers emerged unscathed from a glorified scrimmage.
The 49ers’ top concern was making it through Week 18 without suffering any serious injuries. Ferrell’s fate is still unknown, but the medical procedure was successfully completed. According to Shanahan, he held his breath throughout the whole of the game in an attempt to stay injury-free:
At this point, the 49ers will enter playoff mode. Shanahan announced that the team will practice “real hard” several times during his postgame press conference this week. This week, the schedule calls for two intense workouts and one day of building a cohesive team.
