Trenton Simpson impressed on defense in the second half of the Ravens’ Week 18 rookie report.

In Week 18, the Baltimore Ravens suffered a disappointing 17-10 home loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers, dropping their first game since November. Their first-round pick was sidelined due to a slight injury, but their third-round pick made a major impact, and their fourth-round selection also saw a lot of playing time.

Only three of the Ravens’ six 2023 draft choices were selected, and none of their first-year undrafted players were dressed. Their first pick on Day Three received more playing time, while their sole pick on Day Two had an outstanding second half.

Due to a slight calf injury, first-round sensation Zay Flowers, a wide receiver, missed his first game of the season and was unable to train the week before. Andrew Vorhees, an offensive lineman selected in the seventh round, is still listed as non-football injured. It is possible that he will miss his whole rookie season. Malik Hamm, an undrafted rookie outside linebacker, was not activated to the 53-man roster last month and was placed on season-ending injured reserve.

His most playing time of the season was awarded to the Clemson third-round rookie, and he made the most of it with a fantastic second-half showing. Before the final game of the regular season, Simpson played in 14 games, almost all of them on special teams. In that game, he played a season-high 26 snaps on defense after playing just 20 in the previous 14 games combined.

On Pittsburgh’s second drive of the third quarter, he quickly came up with his second big play in as many weeks, recording his first career sack on a delayed blitz where he had an open path to Steelers quarterback Mason Rudolph.
