49ers announce roster changes ahead of the NFC Championship Game

The San Francisco 49ers have made roster changes ahead of the NFC Championship game against the Detroit Lions. The organisation has promoted WR Willie Snead IV and LB Curtis Robinson from the practice squad to the active roster. Both are standard elevations.

For Snead, this will be his fifth promotion this season. He has two receptions for 14 yards in 2023. Snead may not play in the game, however, due to the 49ers’ healthy group of wide receivers ahead of him.

Robinson is getting promoted for the fourth time this season. In his previous three games, he made a tackle in each. If Robinson plays on Sunday, he will do so on special teams.

In addition, Kalia Davis, who was just added to the practice roster, has been declared out for Sunday’s game. Davis has only played three games for the 49ers this season, registering one sack against the Philadelphia Eagles. Davis was unable to complete his rookie season due to a knee injury. This year, the 49ers and Davis thought he would recover and contribute to the club, particularly in the run game, but that did not happen, owing primarily to injuries.

The 49ers have labelled LB Oren Burks as doubtful. Burks might benefit the Lions’ explosive rushing attack. Burks has 29 tackles and one sack in 15 games for the 49ers this season.

The Lions announced that they have promoted FB Jason Cabinda and OL Michael Schofield from the practice squad to the 53-man roster. Despite having recently signed TE Zach Ertz, they did not promote him.
